Leh Ladakh – An Epic Road Trip to the Land of Endless Discoveries!

My Leh Ladakh trip was the most awaited trip of this year. Finally after a long waiting time I got an opportunity to travel to one of my dream destinations and that too a Road trip.  Yippee!! 🙂 🙂 Ladakh is a region of Indian state Jammu and Kashmir. It is best known for it amazing landscapes, diversity, culture and outstanding environments. Being surrounded by the world’s best mountain ranges of Himalayas and Karakoram make Ladakh a perfect destination for travel adventure. Planning for such epic trip was a bit pain since we were 20 travelers.  After long hours of research and recommendations, we opted to get a customized tour package and luckily we got a good deal with Himalyan Escape. Himalyan Escapes is one of the leading e-travel services company based in Srinagar and it provides travel related services to tourists. So our tour cost includes accommodations in hotels or tents, breakfast and dinners, all transport arrangements, sightseeing and inner line permits. And on complement to it Royal Enfield bikes from Leh to Nubra. …

Polonnaruwa & Sigiriya, Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Itinerary Day 3 On day 3, we had a big day ahead since we planned to visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya rock fortress. After having a big English breakfast of bread-butter-jam, eggs and some fruits in the morning we met Manju. Manju owns a tourist car and he was our car driver cum guide for the next few days. When I first saw Manju, I was quite surprised by his look. He was so neat and clean. Manju was a big fan of Hindi movies and he told us once upon a time he was addicted of Hindi movies and he stopped watching TV to get rid of his addiction. He knew some Hindi movie dialogues as well. We decided to go Polonnaruwa first since it was a bit far and it needs more time explore. Polonnaruwa is an ancient archeological city and one of the UNESCO world heritage sites. On the way on our journey, at one point we saw few monitor lizards roaming on the road and that …

Kolkata To Sundarbans – A Journey Through Basanti Road

Back in March 2015, I have got a change to explore The Sundarbans, one of the most amazing places of India, so called “Amazon of East”. I traveled to Sundarbans from Kolkata through Basanti road and this rustic road journey turned out the most memorable journey I ever had. We traveled through many villages one by one on Kaccha/Dirt road. I still remembered, at the time, when we were started towards Sundarbans, one of the members from coordinating team us already told us “Abhi bahot majja aane wala hai aap logo ko” (Now, you guys are going to have a fun). Indeed, this journey was an unique experience (As good as equal to Bumper ride).  Most of the times, our coordinators were telling us real incidents, the villagers stories and how they spotted the Royal Bengal tigers and other wildlife in forest. For me , it was the most rustic route I have ever been to and the interesting part was I witnessed urban and rural life in a single day. As we were moving away from the …

My Accidental Visit to Vrindavan Studio

Location – Umargao/ Umbergaon, Gujarat Vrindavan Studio – Vrindavan studio is well known for shooting famous Indian mythological serials like Mahabharat, Ramanyan, Hanuman etc. Timing – 9.30 am -6.30 pm (No entry fees) My Accidental Visit to Vrindavan Studio – It was totally unusual; I was on my family trip to Daman. (My family hardly goes to any trip) On the way to Daman, we halted at Umargao Beach which is considered as the silent beach, but this time beach was different & crowded. Most of the shore was occupied by red & blue tents, horses, chariots, people and statues. After discussing with a few local people, we came to know; there is a shooting going on for Mahabharat serial. Without any delay, I made a quick move toward set where some of the crew members & actors were practicing their scene of Mahabharat War. The set was well decorated. The whole set was surrounded by the audience .It was a tough task for coordinators to manage public as well as shooting. After Number of …

Velas Turtle Festival, Ratnagiri

Velas is a small village in Ratnagiri district. Recently, I had visited Velas for Turtle Festival with Mumbai Travellers. It was a perfect weekend getaway with 50 strangers. I had also enjoyed the typical Konkani food, especially Solkadi and Taadi. Turtle Festival– the main attraction of Velas, organized by an NGO named Sahydri Nisarga Mitra. It is an initiative taken by the NGO and whole Velas villagers to preserve the turtles and provide the protection to their eggs. Villagers also provide the home stays and food to the tourists. From last few years, it has gained quite attention among the tourists and nature lovers.  The festival was mainly focused on the turtles. We came to know a lot much about the turtles and the different phases of their life cycle.  At the end of the day, NGO Team had shown us the documentaries of turtles, vultures and explained us their importance in ecosystem. I had actually witnessed the baby turtles hatching and their baby steps toward the sea. (Amazing Moment) Apart from turtle festival, there are other attractions as well like …
