No Doubt, the sea view was splendid. As I soaked my feet in seawater of Marina Beach, the first time in my life I felt the part of the Bay of Bengal. Nothing can give me a better feeling than spending a few days in another state,a far far away from work.
So I was in Chennai with my best buddies for a wedding of my friend’s sister. On the wedding day, we witnessed a wedding ceremony in Tamil style and then we ate various Chennai special food items. In the evening, we were having plenty of time to roam around, so we decided to visit Marina Beach.
Marina Beach, one of the famous tourist attractions in Chennai. As mentioned on the wiki, Marina Beach is not a just beach. It holds a few records like the longest beach in India (13 kms) as well the world’s eleventh longest beach.
Travelling on public transport is a bit challenging, language is a barrier. It was not easy to convince rickshaw drivers. All the rickshaw drivers were asking for extra charges. We struggled and we fought for half an hour to find rickshaws, but somehow we managed to reach Marina Beach.
The beach is a bit away from the main road. It took us around 10-15 minutes to reach the beach. Unexpectedly, the beach was heavily crowded and most of the area was occupied by street stalls and local sellers.
I can surely say, Marina beach is the most crowded beach I have ever seen.Though, the beach was crowded, but I was just excited about seeing the Bay of Bengal and for me spending some time around the sea is always refreshing and peaceful.
People were not allowed to bath or swim in Sea due to turbulent flow of seawater. We spent some time in the seawater, clicked photos, tried playing some games and ate Bombay chat items.Overall, we had a good time at good place. 🙂
After seeing the many beaches of Arabian sea , It was a good experience to see the beach from southern India.
