St. John’s Baptist Church – 500 Years Old Church

Instead of working, I was searching for the “Haunted Places in Mumbai”. Then, I came across a very interesting article from site mumbaigloss.in,  “20 most haunted places in Mumbai “. I was shocked and surprised; when I saw Seepz, my office location on the list. So, I started reading the full article.

Here is the story, I was reading from an article posted on site http://mumbaigloss.in/

“St. John’s Baptist Church, a centuries old Portuguese church was once an abode to the spirit of a young bride who used to torment people coming in the vicinity of the church. Just one prayer meet (mass) is held in a year. The exorcism in 1977 to get rid of the ghost was reportedly a terrifying experience for all those present that moonless night.
“As the priest read lines from the Bible, we first heard manic laughter, and then loud wailing. The sobbing of the unknown voice finally stopped, and suddenly there was a loud splashing sound from the pond next to the church. Everything then fell silent. The next day, all the fishes in the pond were found dead and floating on the surface,’’ said PS Ganesan, who has recorded his experiences in his book, Ghosts, Occults & Exorcists: True and Real Experiences.
The priest later told him that it was the ghost of a newly married woman who had either committed suicide or was murdered around 300 years ago. But after this, she was never seen or heard again.”

So officially, my office is next to the one of the haunted places in Mumbai.

I could not able to resist my feeling of visiting the place, so I narrated the whole story to my friend and asked him to accompany me. Initially, he said big NO, but then I convinced him. Though, he has been just ready to stand outside.

The St. John’s Baptist Church is nearly 500 years old church located in the Seepz. The church is very close from my work place. It hardly took us 10 minutes to reach the church by walk.

It was a just beautiful old church. I roam around and asked my friend to join me since nothing was wrong there .We sat there, for a while I totally forgot about the haunted thing. We took photos around the church, prayed and came back. It was so calm and peaceful there.

There is a pond mentioned in the above story, the place where I go everyday for a walk after my lunch. Some photos from a pond side.

      • I doubt visitors are only allowed when they have some official work or interviews. You can check with Seepz security to obtain permission.
